| Cabarete On our trip to the
Dominican Republic you will expect an unforgettable time, both on
the water and on-shore. Between the two islands Cuba an Puerto Rico
the Caribbean island of Hispaniola is located. 2/3 is Dominican
Republic, and 1/3 belongs to Haiti.
The three best known and largest airports are St. Domingo (Capital),
Punta Cana and Puerta Plata which is the closest to Cabarete. The
national language is Spanish and the used currency is the dominican
Peso. We suggest you change a certain amount of US$ before you go
on vacation, and change the money again in one of the local banks.
With your Euro-Cheque-Card (Maestro) it is always possible to get
money from the cash machines. On entry to the country keep ready
10$, in small currency for your visa.
Accommodation
Our preferred home is the Kitecamp. You will stay in a little paradise
surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens, with your own swimming-pool
and probably the best restaurant in Cabarete.
The main beach is only 400 meters from Kitecamp. You can reach kite
beach within 2 minutes either with the typical Moto-Taxi or with
the private shuttle-bus from the camp. And in the evening, after
a short walk you are already in Down-Town Cabarete.
More information www.kitecamp.com or in our Gallery
Alternatively, we can offer you the brand new Agualina Hotel at
Kite beach. You will stay directly on the beach in a 4 star Hotel.
Between the hotel apartments and the beach is a nice pool for hotel
patrons. So you can enjoy a drink at the pool whilst watching the
Kitesurfers on the water. The rooms are all equipped with air conditioning,
a small kitchen and terrace.
For people who prefer more luxury, this is our recommendation. You
can choose between standard rooms, studios, a junior suite or 2
bedroom-apartments. Agualina offers luxury apartments with three
bedrooms as well as every kind of penthouse-apartments.
As soon as the wind comes : Out on the water! Now it is time to
practice new tricks, and dare higher jumps or you just have fun
in the waves. By the time everybody gets tired or as soon as the
sun goes down it is time for a cold Presidente (local beer)at the
beach. That’s the most typical way to start an evening after
a good day on the water.
Alternatively we will eat in special restaurants, or we can organize
gastronomic highlights at the Kitecamp for you. At big tables, in
individual restaurants we end the day, or we can prepare for a long
night in one of the famous bars in Cabarete. In the summer-time,
(March-September) Cabarete has very constant wind-conditions between
15 and 27 knots.
In the winter-time you have less wind and the constant wind decreases.
Recommended kite sizes during the winter for a 75 kg person are
14-17sqm. But in the summer-time you are well-equipped with 10-14sqm.
During your stay, we can offer special kite trips to different spots
and down winders as well. On some of the trips you will be accompanied
by professional kitesurfers. On the remaining days we will stay
in Cabarete and do what we love to do. – just kitesurfing!
What you should think of? You don’t need much in Cabarete.
